Discover Miss LMB Fangirl

Art, to me, is one of the purest ways to express yourself and tell a story. Across cultures, it holds a special power to remember the past, celebrate the present, and dream of a better future. My focus is on African art because of the freedom and versatility it offers—you can mix digital art with sculpting, add textures, or play with simple shapes and detailed patterns. It’s an art form that encourages creativity without limits, letting each piece speak in its own way. Through my work, I want to bring you into the heart of the motherland, to the Congo, where my roots are and my true home, where art is alive in every corner and story.

Meet the artist

My name is Johanna Regina Lumbu Bahati, though you might know me as Miss LMB Fangirl. I’m a 24-year-old Congolese freelance artist, passionate about capturing the beauty of African culture and the strength of women, especially Black women, through my art. I began drawing at a young age, but it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that I made the leap to pursue it professionally. It was a form of coping mechanism, and I was finding comfort and purpose in sharing African art with the world (I still do!).

Alongside my art journey, I’m a Master’s student in Human Resource Development and Assurance at Indiana State University, with a vision of working in social justice or a nonprofit. Side note: two of my artworks were selected at the Annual Juried Student Exhibition in 2023 and "Tears of Color" was recently selected to appear in Artistonish Magazine's November 2024 issue. Art, for me, is not only a creative expression but a form of activism—a way to inspire change and speak truth to power. Through my channel, I share fun tutorials, tips, and inspiring artworks, hoping to connect, inspire, and create positive change. Let’s create something magical together!
